Planning a realistic day

When the Day Changes Shape

A plan is made with the information available in the morning. When the information changes, the plan may need to change too.

A meeting expands. A child stays home. A task reveals three hidden steps. Or an open afternoon arrives unexpectedly.

Updating the plan is not rewriting history. Keep today's original commitments visible, then make a clear decision about each one when you close: Complete, Later, or Skip. If something new matters more, add it deliberately rather than pretending the earlier plan never existed.

This gives you two useful things at once: freedom to respond now and an honest record later.

Flexibility works best when it leaves a trace. The trace helps you see what your days actually require, without turning the change into a judgment.
