Closing and adjusting

Repeatedly Moving the Same Work

When the same work keeps moving, the useful response is not more guilt. It is a better decision.

Repeated movement can mean many things. The commitment may be too large, too vague, blocked by someone else, less important than it seemed, or simply competing with a difficult week. The record does not reveal the cause.

It does reveal that the current form is not leading to action. Four options can help:

  • Keep it: recommit because the timing has genuinely improved.
  • Make it smaller: choose the first visible action.
  • Clarify it: define what “done” means or identify the missing input.
  • Release it: stop carrying a promise that no longer deserves a place.

Do not automatically schedule it for tomorrow. “Later” is a holding decision; the next plan is a new choice.

Persistence is valuable when it serves the goal. Repetition without reconsideration is only repetition.
