Closing and adjusting

Later Is a New Decision

Moving work forward should not quietly spend tomorrow's capacity. “Later” keeps the possibility alive and returns the decision to you.

Many planning systems automatically roll unfinished tasks into the next day. It looks efficient, but it turns yesterday's intention into tomorrow's obligation without checking whether tomorrow has room.

Steady handles Later differently. The original commitment stays on the day where it was made, recorded as moved. A future task appears in Someday. During a later plan, you can choose it again, rewrite it, or let it go.

This preserves two useful truths: what you intended then, and what you decide now.

If the same task returns repeatedly, the problem may not be effort. The next step may be unclear, too large, blocked by someone else, or simply not important enough. Recommitment creates a moment to notice that.

Later is neither success nor failure. It is a request for another decision.
