A Promise, Not a Task List

A task list records possibilities. A commitment names what you are actually choosing to carry today.

There is nothing wrong with having many possible tasks. The trouble begins when the list and the day are treated as the same thing. A list can grow without limit. Your time and attention cannot.

Steady keeps those two worlds separate. Someday holds work you may want to return to. Today holds the few promises you are making now. Choosing a commitment means giving it a place in a real day with a real capacity.

That distinction makes closing the day more honest. You are not reviewing every useful thing you could have done. You are looking at the promises you deliberately made and recording what happened: Complete, Later, or Skip.

This is also why moving something to Later does not automatically place it on tomorrow. Tomorrow deserves its own decision.
